What I need from you:
- I am asking you to sit for a portrait. Not a pretty portrait, but a truly honest look. The image will be in black and white. I prefer that you try to give me a glimpse into who you truly are. You can wear something that says something about you or your interests. If you are really into punk bands, then let it show. Perhaps a t-shirt that has something to say about you. Think about bringing a prop, a guitar, book, camera -- whatever you want to express. Wear your work uniform. The bottom line is that I want you to express who you are or something you want to present to the world.
- I will ask you to sign a model release giving me permission to exhibit your photo.
- I will ask you to write a statement that fits on a 4x6 index card. Pretty much anything you want to say. The project title says, “In their own words.”
Some ideas maybe:
- What makes you happy.
- What makes you mad.
- An original poem.
- How you feel about life.
How the final project will look:
Ideally I will have each photo printed in a 12x12 inch square format and mounted in a 16x20 inch matte. The index card will be taped to the matte just below the portrait. I hope to find some galleries that will exhibit the project.
